The construction of the facility is to start in September this year and be completed by the end of 2022. Trains running throughout Lower Silesia will be serviced in the new hall.
“The investment of Koleje Dolnośląskie is important for the entire voivodeship – not only will the carrier become independent in the context of servicing its own vehicles, but in the long run it may constitute a workplace for specialists from our region – assures Cezary Przybylski, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. – In recent years, we have observed a dynamic development of the Lower Silesian carrier, therefore the expansion of service facilities is an important step from the point of view of all investments of Koleje Dolnośląskie” – adds the marshal.
The new hall will be built at ul. Pątnowska in Legnica. Its task is to increase the company’s service capabilities. Thanks to equipping the hall with an appropriate system, it will be possible to carry out inspections of vehicles up to the P4 level on site (thorough inspection of the technical condition of vehicles with replacement of components). This will reduce the costs incurred by the company, because so far all inspections of this type are carried out by external entities.
The total cost of the investment is estimated at approximately PLN 45 million. Part of this amount was guaranteed by a grant from the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodship. In May, the company signed an agreement with the Marshal’s Office of Co-financing the service center with the amount of PLN 30 million.
