Thorium Space signed a contract with Sivers Semiconductors to develop chipsets

Thorium Space has signed a contract with Sivers Semiconductors worth USD 1.85 million, the company announced. The contract obliges both parties to develop and implement groundbreaking chipsets on the global market for SATCOM ground terminals and the latest generation of digitally defined satellites.

Development works under the current contract will start in March 2023 and will last throughout the current year. Sivers estimates the market demand for developing chips at USD 5 billion in the period 2023-2030, the information indicated.

Today, we are confident that we can develop and deliver best-in-class, state-of-the-art, active antenna solutions for the global terrestrial and space segment without any compromises,” said Paweł Rymaszewski, CEO/CTO of Thorium Space, quoted in the release.

Under the contract, four innovative MMIC integrated circuits will be developed to enable the implementation of active electronically controlled flat antennas in the Ka band, both in ground terminals, as well as a unique space chipset on the world market for use on board telecommunications satellites.

Thorium Space is a company from the sector of advanced satellite communication systems (Space Advanced Communication Company). He designs innovative technological solutions for the construction of space vehicles and intelligent array antennas, applicable in the space industry and the defense sector. It has offices in Wrocław and Warsaw.
