T-Mobile may be fined up to 10 percent for violating the collective interests of consumers. last year’s turnover – informed the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. According to estimates, it may even be over PLN 600 million.
As we read in the office’s announcement, UOKiK received complaints about paid services activated with the use of direct billing – many consumers complain about accidental launching of paid services while browsing the Internet, e.g. by clicking on an advertisement.
“Doubts of the President of UOKiK are raised by the lack of verification by the operator whether the order of paid services was made with the consumer’s express and informed consent. – In keeping with good practice, the collection of additional charges is only possible on the basis of the consumer’s prior and express will. Such confirmation may be entering a password or PIN number, sending a text message (…) “- says Tomasz Chróstny, President of UOKiK.
