Instant payments platform BLIK grows 100% in Q2

The Polish Payment Standard (PSP) recorded an increase in the number of BLIK transactions in all channels – to a total of 176 million in Q2 2021, which means a double increase compared to Q2 2020. At the end of Q2, BLIK was actively using BLIK approx. 8 million users, nearly 50% more than a year ago, informed PSP – the operator of BLIK.

“We have been convinced for a long time that instant payments are the future of settlements between people. This is the fastest and easiest way to transfer money to yourself cashless and hassle-free. Year on year, the share of P2P transactions in all BLIK transactions increased by 5 percentage points, and the share of e-commerce fell below 70%. The transaction structure is more and more balanced, ”said the president of PSP, Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, quoted in the press release.

The number of transactions in traditional payment terminals increased year on year by 133% to the level of 19.6 million transactions in the second quarter of the year. In the second quarter, transactions in POS terminals accounted for 11% of all BLIK transactions.

The shareholders of PSP are: Alior Bank, Bank Millennium, Santander Bank Polska, ING Bank Śląski, mBank, PKO Bank Polski and Mastercard. BLIK can also be used by clients of Getin Bank, Bank Pekao, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, Inteligo, Nest Bank, Bank Pocztowy and cooperative banks associated in Spółdzielcza Grupa Bankowa, Bank BPS and cooperative banks of the BPS Group.
