The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) will grant the Górnośląsko-Zagłębie Metropolis (GZM) a subsidy of PLN 81 million for the purchase of 20 hydrogen buses, the Fund said. This is the first, pilot stage of hydrogen being disseminated in the Silesian Voivodeship as a fuel for public transport and at the same time an element of the implementation of the zero-emission public transport strategy in the area of GZM.
The project called “Hydrogen GZM”, co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, will be implemented under the priority program “Green Public Transport”, for which recruitment was announced in October 2020. As part of this investment, GZM planned to purchase 20 hydrogen-fueled buses, said.
“The National Fund has created a stable, long-term perspective for financing electromobility. Until 2030, we have an amount of PLN 4.7 billion for this purpose. We systematically develop two complementary programs “My electrician”, addressed to individuals and entrepreneurs, and the priority – both for us and for local governments – the “Green Public Transport” program. (…) ”said Artur Lorkowski, vice-president of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, quoted in the release.
