Project entitled "Hydrogen and synthetic natural gas production system with functionality in the field of electricity generation and storage" (acronym Hy-Chess), proposed by PGNiG (as a consortium leader) with the Silesian University of Technology and the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal in Zabrze received the highest assessment of experts from the National Research Center and Development (NCBR) out of 47 applications submitted in the competition no. 'New technologies in the field of energy' and received PLN 34.3 million in funding, Polish Oil and Gas Mining (PGNiG) reported. "The growing demand for the so-called clean energy is accelerated by research and development programs that bring us closer to climate neutrality. When the ideas of scientists meet the needs of enterprises and even the entire economy, the effects of cooperation between science and business may turn out to be groundbreaking. We count on it by investing in the 'Hy-Chess' system. The innovation and potential of the technology proposed by a team of scientists from the Silesian University of Technology under the supervision of prof. Łukasz Bartela and prof. Anna Skorek-Osikowska, is also confirmed by the NCBiR decision to grant funding, ”said Arkadiusz Sekściński, vice president of PGNiG for development, quoted in the release. The "Hy-Chess" technology is the result of the work of the Silesian University of Technology team dealing with the issues of energy storage, especially in the area of large-scale solutions. Invention by prof. Łukasz Bartela and prof. Anna Skorek-Osikowska, employees of the Department of Energy Machines and Devices, is currently being processed by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland.
