Data4, a leading European operator and investor in the data center sector, opens the first data center in Poland located in Jawczyce near Warsaw. Ultimately, 4 facilities with a total capacity of 60 MW will be built on the campus, and the total cost of the investment will amount to PLN 1 billion. Considering the high demand for colocation services in Poland, Data4 has already decided to start the construction of a second building in a location near Warsaw.
The first Polish data center campus of the Data4 Group is located in Jawczyce near Warsaw, on a plot of 4 hectares. The investment near Warsaw will include 4 facilities with a total power allocation of 60 MW. The total available area of the center will be 50,000 sq. m. m2 gross, within which the IT area of 15,000 sqm will be available to customers. m2 net. The first data center with a capacity of 8 MW is already in the start-up phase and occupies over 2.2 thousand sq m. m2 of net area – i.e. “clean” usable area with separate collocation zones for customers. The campus will be connected by fiber-optic telecommunications links with the networks available in Warsaw to ensure access to a large number of telecommunications operators and full repeatability of processes and solutions implemented at other Data4 campuses in Europe. The total cost of the investment in Poland is over PLN 1 billion.
“The opening of the campus in Warsaw allows us to pursue our ambitions to remain a leading pan-European player in the data center sector. Recognizing the needs of hosting in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Poland was an obvious market for Data4 for further development. The importance of the Warsaw region in the data center sector is growing rapidly and may soon be as important as Italy or Spain, says Olivier Micheli, CEO of Data4 Group.
Intensive digitization of many areas of life is constantly increasing the importance of data centers, which today are the foundation of the digital economy and are part of critical infrastructure. Data4 designs, builds and currently operates 31 highly connected, secure and environmentally sustainable data centers that support the growth of customers in different parts of Europe. The group, present outside Poland also in France, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg and soon also in Germany, still has significant land and capacity reserves. These possibilities will be extended to other data centers near Warsaw. Preparations for the construction of the next stage of the campus in Jawczyce have already started.
— The opening of the first data center is also an opportunity to announce the start of the next stage of development of the Data4 Group in Poland. We are preparing to build a second center that will strengthen our Polish campus. We hope that further implementation of the investment, the total value of which exceeds PLN 1 billion, will allow us to better meet the needs of the Polish market, and we will be able to continue supporting our clients in the digital revolution – explains Adam Ponichtera, director of the Polish branch of Data4.
The decision of the Data4 Group to dynamically develop the campus in Poland was dictated by the strategic location of this investment on the map of Europe. The location at the junction of telecommunications routes leading from the Czech Republic and Germany provides Warsaw with a perfect connection between the western part of Europe and its central-eastern part and the Scandinavian countries. For the first location in Poland, Data4 chose Jawczyce near Warsaw in the Ożarów Mazowiecki commune, where the company obtained the best investment opportunities in terms of long-term campus expansion.
