The company Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (Polish Nuclear Power Plants) is established

“Polish Nuclear Power Plants” – this will be the name of the entity that will deal with the construction and operation of the Polish nuclear energy sector, said Piotr Naimski, the government’s plenipotentiary for strategic energy infrastructure.

As he explained in an interview with PAP, it is about changing the name of the existing company PGE EJ1, which has recently been bought from shareholders by the State Treasury. He added that the name change is “in the process of registration”.

Big plans for nuclear energy
Naimski said during the Nafta-Gaz-Chemia 2021 conference that the implementation of the Polish Nuclear Power Program, i.e. the construction of six nuclear units with a total capacity of 6-9 GW, according to preliminary estimates, will result in 20-25% of electricity produced in Poland will come from nuclear power plants.

The Plenipotentiary stressed that the share of nuclear energy as a zero-emission source in the Green Lada was “evident”. Without it, balancing the Polish energy system will come from Germany, and Poland cannot afford it – he added. Poland cannot be systemically dependent on imported energy – emphasized Naimski.
