The Swyft platform, delivering groceries in 15 minutes, stopped fulfilling orders from Monday, November 29. – At the moment, the operating activities of Swyft have only been temporarily suspended – informs Business Insider Polska. Behind the platform there are, among others former head of the Biedronka Pedro Pereira da Silva chain of stores.
Currently, nothing can be ordered via the Swyft app. There is a message at the top. “On November 29, 2021, the activities of Swyft are temporarily suspended due to ongoing strategic changes,” we read. The app can still be downloaded from the Google Play Store, but is no longer available in the AppStore.
Swyft started its operations this summer, starting with the delivery of purchases in the center of Warsaw, then the platform extended its reach to other districts: Ursynów, Mokotów and Żoliborz.
Behind Swyft are Dr. Stefan Krueger, former head of the Morgan Stanley office in Warsaw, and Pedro Pereira da Silva, who worked for 25 years in the Jeronimo Martins Group, including in 2000-2010 as the general director of the Biedronka chain.
It is not known whether Swyft will return to action – the company’s representatives did not answer our questions. The fact is that the quick commerce market in Warsaw is already quite tight – apart from Swyft, there are: Jokr (a startup based on capital from various venture capital funds), Lisek (created by Polish investors), Jush (the platform was created as part of Żabki) and Biedronka Express (a joint platform of Biedronka and Glovo). More companies are announcing their entry into this market.
