The BLIK operator took over the VIANO mobile payment platform in Slovakia

Polski Standard Płatności (PSP) - the operator of the BLIK mobile payment system - has signed an agreement to purchase 100% of shares in the Slovak company VIAMO - a provider of P2P payment services and payments to enterprises, the company said. The agreement will enter into force after obtaining the consent of the National Bank of Slovakia - Národná banka Slovenska (NBS).

The Polish Payment Standard, apart from expanding the range of products on the Polish market, implements a plan of foreign expansion. In this way, it wants to use its unique know-how and the gap existing in many countries in the field of local payment systems focused on serving the rapidly growing e-commerce segment, it said.

“The popularization of BLIK as a comprehensive payment system on the Polish market has already become a fact. Today, this solution is actively used by over 11.3 million users and this number is growing with each subsequent quarter. We have gained enormous knowledge that we want to use also for development outside our country. Already two years ago, we started establishing partnerships with global payment service providers. The acquisition of the Slovak company VIAMO is another important stage in our history, which will strengthen our position in the region. We see a huge potential of this market, especially in the context of our action plans in the entire euro zone, ”said the president of PSP, Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, quoted in the press release.

VIAMO has been operating on the Slovak market since 2013. The company has the status of a payment institution and provides services in the field of P2P payments and business payments based on QR codes and payment links. The company is also a payment gateway provider - VIAMO PayGate. Currently, it works closely with 2 banks - VÚB and Tatra banka. Its services, however, can be used by customers of all banks in Slovakia via the VIAMO Plus mobile application.

The agreement for the purchase of VIAMO shares will enter into force after obtaining the consent of the National Bank of Slovakia - Národná banka Slovenska (NBS). The parties do not disclose the value of the transaction.

BLIK is a common standard for mobile payments. The company Polski Standard Płatności (PSP) is responsible for the development of the system. Its shareholders are: Alior Bank, Bank Millennium, Santander Bank Polska, ING Bank Śląski, mBank, PKO Bank Polski and Mastercard.
