Tauron Polska Energia concluded 38 framework agreements with telecommunications operators for the provision of wholesale telecommunications services, and as of December 31, 2021, 10 of them were already operating on the company’s network, Tauron reported. By the end of 2021, Tauron had built 4,705 km of optical fiber network.
“In the time of the pandemic, the fiber optic connection with fast internet turned out to be one of the keys to normal life, so we make every effort to effectively meet the needs of households by providing telecommunications connections within the range of the network we are building” – said Leszek Chwalik, vice president of Tauron Customer Service, responsible for IT.
In 2021, Tauron Obsługa Klienta continued the implementation of the project entitled “Eliminating territorial differences in the possibility of access to broadband Internet with high capacity” under the Operational Program Digital Poland (POPC), the aim of which is to build a fiber-optic network enabling access to broadband Internet with a speed of at least 100Mb / s in areas previously excluded digitally.
By the end of 2021, Tauron had built 4,705 km of optical fiber network, which constitutes 84% of the planned investment, and all 171 optical nodes. This allows 43% of buildings planned to be connected under the project to be covered. By the end of the previous year, Tauron had published a list of over 21,000 household addresses ready for connection.
