Tauron Group will build the 24 MW Sieradz wind farm by the end of 2025

Tauron Zielona Energia – a company from the Tauron Polska Energia Group – will build its sixteenth wind farm in Sieradz, the company announced. The installation with a total capacity of 24 MW is scheduled to be launched at the end of 2025.

The Sieradz wind farm will consist of eight turbines, including six turbines with a capacity of 3.3 MW and two with a capacity of 2 MW each. The analyzes carried out indicate the possible high productivity of the farm, estimated at 3,277 MWh/MW/year, it was emphasized.

“Wind farms are to play a key role in Tauron’s generation mix by the end of the decade. Including the Sieradz farm, we have five wind farms under construction with a total capacity of over 160 MW and two photovoltaic farms with a capacity of over 100 MW. Another dozen or so renewable energy projects are in the investment analysis phase,” said president Paweł Szczeszek, quoted in the release.

The purchased wind farm project already has a building permit, which will allow for quick implementation of the project. The investment will be implemented by Tauron Zielona Energia.

“The first preparatory works will start at the beginning of 2024. In turn, by the end of the first quarter of 2024, we plan to start construction works, and the second half of next year will end with ready foundations and preparations for transporting the turbines. We plan to supply the first voltage in the third quarter of 2025, and the fully operational farm will be put into operation by the end of 2025,” added Wojciech Więcławek, president of Tauron Zielona Energia.

In the construction phase, in addition to the Sieradz farm, there are also four wind farms with a total capacity of 140 MW. Three of them will be launched next year – Mierzyn with a capacity of 58 MW, Gamów with a capacity of 33 MW and Warblewo with a capacity of 30 MW. The first electricity from the Nowa Brzeźnica farm (20 MW) will flow in 2025, it was also announced.

Tauron currently operates 11 wind farms. These are installations in Majewo, Piotrków, Zagórze, Wicko, Marszewo, Lipniki, Śniatów, Mogilno, Inowrocław, Dobrzyń and Gołdap with a total capacity of 417 MW, as well as three photovoltaic farms with a total capacity of 56 MW (in Jaworzno, Choszczno and Mysłowice), and in The Proszówek farm with a capacity of 55 MW and the second stage of the farm in Mysłowice with a capacity of approximately 60 MW are under construction.

The total installed capacity in renewable energy sources was 606 MW (including 417 MW in wind farms, 133 MW in hydropower plants, 56 MW of power in photovoltaic plants). According to the assumptions of the strategy, in 2030 the group will have 1,100 MW in wind farms.

Tauron Polska Energia is a holding company in a capital group that deals with coal mining, generation, distribution and sale of electricity and heat. The Tauron Group covers 18% of the country’s area and is the largest energy distributor in Poland and one of the largest economic entities in the country.
