Industry Europe reported that Sweco has been contracted to oversee the construction of a tunnel under the Swina River in Poland. The tunnel will connect the islands of Uznam and Wolin, improving mobility and supporting economic growth in the region. The construction of an underwater tunnel connecting the islands in Swinoujscie will significantly shorten travel time, benefitting everyone travelling or living in the region. The tunnel will have a length of approximately 3.2 kilometres.
Mr Maciej Chrzanowski, Head of Sweco Consulting in Poland, said that “This investment is important not only for people living in the surrounding area, but for everyone travelling this route. The new connection between two islands will be more accessible, significantly shortening the travel time and contribute to economic growth in the region. I have no doubt that our knowledge and experience will allow us to successfully implement this project.”
