The carrier Azienda Veneziana della Mobilita (AVM) from Venice has ordered 90 Solaris hydrogen buses, the company announced. 75 of them will be in the 12-meter version and 15 in the articulated version. The contract also assumes the so-called option to increase the order.
According to the contract, the vehicles will be delivered to Venice successively, starting from November 2025. Deliveries will end in the first weeks of 2026. There are already 30 battery Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses and 4 hydrogen Urbino 12 hydrogen buses in operation in Venice and the surrounding area, it is emphasized in the material.
A new solution in hydrogen buses for AVM will be hydrogen refueling valves on both sides of the buses above the front wheel arch. According to the contract, the order of 90 hydrogen carriers may be extended to include the so-called an option that may mean ordering an additional 13 12-meter vehicles and 5 articulated vehicles.
In Europe, interest in a zero-emission solution based on hydrogen technology is constantly growing. Solaris is the European leader in this segment. The deliveries and concluded contracts covered a total of over 300 hydrogen buses.
