SmakMAK bought Poniec plant, wants to double production capacity

SmakMAK purchased a production plant in Poniec from companies from the Mróz Group, the company announced. This investment is intended to enable doubling of SmakMAK’s production capacity.

“SmakMAK has finalized the transaction of purchasing a production plant and land in Poniec in the province. Greater Poland from companies from the Mróz Group. New plant with an area of 12,000. m2 on a 6-hectare plot is located in close proximity to the main production and logistics base of SmakMAK in Kąkolewo. The property requires specialized adaptation works. The process of modernization of part of the plant is to be completed in the second quarter of 2024, and then SmakMAK plans to launch the first production lines,” we read in the announcement.

The remaining part of the plant is to be ready in Q4 2024.

“The ready-made meals market in Poland is developing dynamically and is in a relatively early phase of growth. We see a significant increase in demand for convenience dishes, which is why we decided to make an investment that will enable us to double our production capacity. The investment, worth several dozen million, opens up completely new horizons for us, placing us at the absolute forefront of convenience food producers. Modern infrastructure means not only greater efficiency, but also increased production flexibility, which is an extremely important aspect of cooperation with the largest retail chains in Poland and Europe,” said Tomasz Średziński, president of SmakMAK, quoted in the release.

In addition to the property in Poniec, the SmakMAK group also has four other facilities with a total area of 12,000 sq m. m2 and a modern logistics center. SmakMAK currently employs 270 employees. Ultimately, approximately 150 people will be employed in Poniec.

In 2022, the consolidated revenues of the manufacturer of ready-made meals amounted to PLN 190 million, compared to PLN 141 million in 2021. This year is expected to be a continuation of the good trend for the company, which is planning record sales of PLN 210 million.

SmakMAK, a company founded in 2004 by Adam and Maciej Woźniczak, is a producer of convenience dishes offered by large Polish retail chains. The company’s offer includes over 100 products in the category of ready meals.
