Selena has launched a new biopolymer production plant

Selena Group has implemented a new biopolymer production line. Thanks to it, the Selena Industrial Technologies plants in Nowa Ruda and Dzierżoniów will produce innovative plastics from natural components, the company said.

The Selena Group was the leader and the first Polish large company to coordinate an international consortium that, since 2017, has been implementing one of the projects financed by the Horizon 2020 Program (managed by a public-private partnership: Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking). The program financed, among others, the Biomotive project, carried out over 4 years by Selena's research and development center and its 15 foreign partners. Among other things, the project allowed for the development of new recipes for biopolymers, as well as the construction of installations for their production in Nowa Ruda and Dzierżoniów, it said.

“The launch of the production of biopolymers by Selena Industrial Technologies is an important step towards creating ecological and environmentally sustainable products. Introducing innovative products to the market is one of the priorities of our business strategy, but also a natural choice of pro-ecological, zero-emission and pro-consumer solutions. In the Selena Group, we have been focusing on projects implementing sustainable development goals for years, and recently we have established a separate department that will ensure the application of the highest standards in this area at every level of our organization, ”said the main shareholder of the Selena Group, Krzysztof Domarecki, quoted in the release.

The Selena FM Group is a global producer and distributor of construction chemicals. The main brands are Tytan, Artelit and Spanish Quilosa. It is one of the world's three largest producers of polyurethane foam used in the assembly of windows and doors. Selena's production plants are located in Poland, Brazil, Korea, China, Romania, Turkey and Spain. In 2008, the company made its debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Its consolidated sales revenues reached PLN 1.38 billion in 2020.
