SDS Optic confirmed quality of fiber optic biosensor production for inPROBE

SDS Optic has completed a milestone: it has implemented pilot production of fiber optic sensors and achieved full process independence in the production of complete fiber optic biosensors (inPROBE microprobes), the company announced. The compliance of the process, technological and manufacturing documentation with the sample of 300 fiber optic microprobes produced by SDS Optic was confirmed by the Orange Polska center specializing in optoelectronics (fiber optic technologies).

The technological and quality parameters of the manufactured fiber optic sensors are consistent with the assumed expectations regarding the possible repeatability of the production process. This means that SDS Optic is able to repeat the production cycle many times, maintaining the same level of product quality. Particular attention should be paid to the fact that the quality and repeatability of the parameters of SDS Optic fiber optic sensors significantly exceed the production capabilities of other external entities, it was reported.

“The quality parameters of the optical biosensor parts we produce, as well as the confirmed repeatability of production, represent above-average value for the company, both in terms of future applications of the inPROBE technological platform and in terms of potential patent applications. It is the beginning of the company’s transition from the level of a research and development entity to an entity entering the process of commercialization of its technological solutions,” said Marcin Staniszewski, president of SDS Optic, quoted in the release.

“SDS Optic has the ability to independently produce biological elements necessary for the functionalization of sensors, which, together with the recently implemented pilot production of fiber optic sensors, constitutes a significant value in the process of commercializing the technology and securing the company’s intellectual property. We want the technology we create to meet the highest functional, administrative and business expectations. This is a huge benefit for us, but also for every partner with whom we will cooperate in the future,” added R&D director Magdalena Staniszewska.

The company emphasized that the achieved milestone is a confirmation that the production process can be scaled to an unlimited extent, and according to Mateusz Sagan, director of operations and business development, this will be one of the key factors determining the value of the technology during the commercialization process.

“The analysis and verification of the parameters of our microprobes and the entire process and production documentation conducted by the renowned Orange laboratory is a breakthrough for us on the way to commercialization. The ability to scale the production of our microprobe to semi-industrial levels in a stable and repeatable manner has been confirmed. With such a breakthrough technology, anyone who wants to commercialize it with us or develop it further will always ask whether it is possible to produce the product in thousands or even millions of pieces, and will expect confirmation of our thesis. Orange is a recognizable global brand of fiber optic technologies, and the verification they have prepared will not raise any doubts on the market,” said Sagan.

The results confirmed by Orange and the SDS Optic process documentation will be attached to the Quality Management System for the purposes of future audits conducted by the notified body, which is currently TÜV NORD Polska.

SDS Optic is a company developing its own inPROBE technological platform for real-time medical diagnostics in cancer, infectious, viral, bacterial and fungal diseases. The company debuted on the NewConnect market in 2022.
