SatRev continues talks with the Zambian goverment on the space program

SatRev estimates it is getting closer to signing a historic agreement to co-create the Zambia Space Program, the company said.

“Today I had the honor of having another conversation with the President of Zambia - Hakdeinde Hichilema, about the development of the space industry and co-creation of the first Space Program. The efforts of the Zambian government are aimed at fueling the country's socio-economic development through foreign investment, supporting research and sectoral innovation. It is an honor for us to be part of a new chapter in the history of this South African country, ”said president Grzegorz Zwoliński, quoted in the press release.

As part of the Zambia Space Program, the company will be able to design, manufacture and launch a constellation of nanosatellites aboard the Virgin Orbit rocket. The aim of this project will be, inter alia, to conduct scientific research and imaging the Earth's surface. All collected data and images from missions in low Earth orbit will be further digitally analyzed using solutions in the field of computer vision, machine learning and AI (artificial intelligence). Thanks to the use of the most modern technologies, it will be possible, for example, to detect invisible patterns, identify trends and predict threats caused, among others, by by climate change or natural disasters, as well as the observation of the impact of human activities, explained.

SatRev was founded in Poland in 2016 to focus on the emerging space market. Thanks to vertically integrated activities, the company specializes in the design, production and operation of satellites. It is building a satellite constellation for real-time Earth observation, expected to contain over 1,000 satellites by 2026. In October 2019, the company launched a consortium with Virgin Orbit and nearly a dozen Polish universities to design and conduct the world's first dedicated commercial satellite mission to Mars. Current investors are Polish VC funds, such as JR Holding, Infini, Newberg.
