Poznań rail station reconstruction design imminent

Design works related to the reconstruction of the old railway station in Poznań should be completed in two years, PKP S.A. . Much depends on the date of the agreement with the city authorities – they claim that the arrangements with PKP are coming to an end.

City authorities and PKP S.A have not signed an agreement that specifies mutual obligations of the parties, areas of operation and other issues important from the point of view of cooperation. Bartłomiej Sarna from the media cooperation department at Polskie Koleje Państwowe S.A. informed PAP that the agreement was in the process of being negotiated between the parties. Meetings between the company and the city are held regularly on this matter.

“The development and signing of an agreement is crucial. The next step will be to announce an architectural competition covering Dworcowa Street, the square in front of the station (areas covered by the city’s investment) and the so-called old railway station in Poznań and a fragment of the property belonging to PKP SA located nearby “- Bartłomiej Sarna told PAP.

As he explained, the winner of the competition will prepare comprehensive design documentation for the reconstruction and will obtain all the necessary permits and administrative approvals.

“Thanks to this, it will be possible to start construction works in Poznań. If everything goes according to plan, design works should be completed by the end of 2023” – he said.

The deputy mayor of Poznań, Mariusz Wiśniewski, assessed that the city is at the end of arrangements with the Polish State Railways on the reconstruction of the station.
