Polish billionaire behind NASDAQ IPO of Wish.com

Wish.com is an online shopping platform that won the hearts of customers mainly due to the ability to buy cheap goods from China. Szulczewski founded this business with his colleague Danny Zhang in 2010, and nine years later – in 2019 – Wish was the most downloaded shopping app in the world. In January 2021, the platform made its debut on the stock exchange.

Before his debut, it was said that Szulczewski could become the richest Pole, with assets estimated at up to $ 4.5 billion. However, as estimated by “Forbes” in the latest ranking, the co-creator of Wish.com has a fortune worth $ 1.7 billion, or about PLN 6.4 billion.

The magazine indicates that Szulczewski owns approx. 18 percent of Wish’s shares. The company is currently valued on the stock exchange at $8.88 billion. This is much less than the expectations before the debut – according to unofficial information, Wish wanted a capitalization of up to $ 20-30 billion.
