Play and Ericsson extend RAN collaboration in Poland

Polish cellular telecommunications provider Play Communications SA (known as Play or P4) has signed a new agreement with Ericsson to expand its RAN (Radio Access Network).

The contract covers the modernisation of the radio access network throughout Poland, based on Ericsson Radio System 5G solutions. This is the first agreement between Play and Ericsson since the takeover of Play by the Iliad Group.

The agreement also includes the introduction of advanced radio software technologies such as Ericsson Spectrum Sharing, Uplink Booster, and 5G Carrier Aggregation (CA).

“The development of the network and investments in new technologies are a priority for Play, as they translate into the comfort of using the services for our clients. I am glad that we are cooperating with Ericsson, thanks to which we provide the most innovative network solutions on the market,” said Jean-Marc Harion, President of the Management Board of Play.
