PKN Orlen to buy 89.4-MW wind farm portfolio in Poland

Polish oil refiner PKN Orlen (WSE:PKN) has struck a deal to acquire the owner of 89.4 MW of onshore wind farms at home in a deal worth PLN 380 million (101.8m/EUR 84.2m).

The buyer said on Friday it will purchase 100% of the shares of Poland-based Nowotna Farma Wiatrowa Sp zoo from Spanish investment funds Taiga Inversiones Eolicas SCR SA and Santander Energias Renovables SCRA SA.

The target entity owns a portfolio of three wind parks located in the villages of Kobylnica, Subkowy and Nowotna in the Pomeranian Voivodeship of northern Poland. Specific details about the power plants were not available.

The deal is subject to antitrust clearance, PKN Orlen said. Last month, the oil refiner bought a 20-MW Kanin wind farm in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship from Stage Capital and Mashav Energia. It then said the acquisition supports its goal of having 2.5 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030.
