PGE launches new “circular economy” R&D center in Bełchatów

“The main task of the GOZ Research and Development Center is to develop solutions aimed at preventing waste generation and optimizing the life and use of raw materials. These solutions will be dedicated both to the conventional energy industry today, as well as to renewable energy ”.

Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) has started construction of the Closed Circulation Research and Development Center in Bełchatów. The center will open in 2022.

“The development of renewable energy technologies makes it necessary to develop some of the exhausted wind or photovoltaic farms. It is estimated that by 2050, around 78 million tonnes of RES-related waste may be generated worldwide. Therefore, at PGE, simultaneously with the development of renewable energy sources, we are implementing investments that will allow for the management of waste from RES installations. Next year, we will open a circular economy research and development center in Bełchatów. It will be an important element in the implementation of the PGE Group’s strategy and an important innovation development center. The implementation of the project is also an important element of the transformation of the Bełchatów region ”- said the president of PGE Wojciech Dąbrowski.

The company responsible in the PGE Group for the closed-loop economy segment is PGE Ekoserwis.
