PGE EO will receive PLN 18.9 million in funding from the NFOŚiGW for the construction of a PV power plant near Szprotawa

PGE Energia Odnawialna (PGE EO) from the PGE Group signed an agreement with the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) to co-finance the construction of a photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 8 MW, the company announced. The total cost of the project is PLN 22.2 million, and the amount of financing provided is PLN 18.9 million.

“The implementation of the project co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management is an important step towards implementing our plans to build new generating capacity from renewable energy sources. By the end of 2023, the PGE Group will have fully built or under construction PV power plants with a total target capacity of approximately 500 MW,” said Marcin Karlikowski, president of PGE EO, quoted in the release.

The aim of the project is to build a photovoltaic farm with a capacity of up to 8 MW along with the necessary accompanying infrastructure, including: inverters, transformer stations and internal cable lines connecting installation elements. Additionally, the PV farm area will be fenced and equipped with a monitoring system, and the equipment of the farm itself will be supplemented with a remote control system based on IT networks. The investment is planned in the Szprotawa commune in the province. Lubuskie, it was reported.

In the coming years, PGE will continue the process of building new photovoltaic farms. Today, the company already has approximately 3,000 ha of land secured for investment purposes, on which solar farms with a capacity of over 2 GW can be built. PGE assumes reaching 3 GW of power in photovoltaic installations by 2030. At the end of September, the construction of further photovoltaic farms will be completed: Gutki and Gutki 2 in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, implemented under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program 2014-2020, and Zawidów 1 and Zawidów 2 in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, built with support from the Regional Operational Program of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship 2014-2020 2020, recalled.

The PGE Group produces 41% of net electricity production in Poland, and its share in the heat market is 18%. The Group estimates its share in the renewable energy market at 10%. In a distribution area of approx. 123 thousand km2 PGE serves 5.5 million customers. Its market share in terms of the volume of distributed electricity is 25% and sales to end users – 33%. The company has been listed on the WSE since 2009.
