Coal to gas transition underway: PGE Energia Ciepła will allocate up to 7 billion pln for transformation

PGE Energia Ciepła will make investment decisions by 2025 to switch from coal to gas fuel in all 16 heat plants in the country. The company estimates initially that the transformation in its CHP plants may cost up to PLN 7 billion, the president of PGE Energia Ciepła, said Przemysław Kołodziejak.

“According to preliminary estimates, the transformation in our CHP plants may cost as much as PLN 7 billion. We will use them to replace the currently used hard coal with natural gas. Funds for this purpose will come from the company’s annual profit, ”Kołodziejak said in an interview after signing the agreement with MPEC Kraków.
