Gdańsk GPEC closes coal-fired heating and signs up with PGE Energia Ciepła

PGE Energia Ciepła – a subsidiary of Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) and the GPEC Group have signed a package of long-term contracts to increase the availability and guarantee of heat supply from the heating network for the residents of Gdańsk and Sopot, PGE reported. The contracts were concluded for the years 2022-2026.

“Thanks to the partnership cooperation, heat from the PGE Energia Ciepła CHP plant can reach more and more residents of Gdańsk and Sopot via GPEC networks. Cooperation with the GPEC Group is crucial for conducting our investment projects in a rational, coordinated and combined manner with the simultaneous use of the market potential of the dynamically developing Gdańsk, ”said Elżbieta Kowalewska, director of the Wybrzeże PGE Energia Ciepła branch.

Thanks to close and long-term cooperation with the heat producer, the GPEC Group has recently closed all traditional coal-fired heating plants in Gdańsk and connected residents to the heating network.
