The value of venture capital (VC) investments in Poland amounted to PLN 1,159 million in Q1 2022 compared to PLN 243 million a year earlier, according to a report summarizing transactions on the Polish VC market, prepared by PFR Ventures together with Inovo Venture Partners. In Q1 this year. 98 transactions were carried out in which 101 funds were involved. “In the first quarter of 2022, PLN 1.1 billion passed through the Polish VC market. This is the total value of the capital that Polish and foreign funds have invested in domestic innovative enterprises. Historically, it is the strongest opening of the year. For comparison: in 2020, in the first three months, PLN 249 million was invested, which accounted for approximately 12% of the value of all financing, and in 2021 it was PLN 243 million (6.7%) "- reads the release. Excluding above-standard transactions (outliers), Q1 2022 is still one of the strongest periods that could be observed on the Polish venture capital market. The trend from 2021 also continues, in which we recorded about 100 transactions in each quarter. "Even with the separation of the largest transaction, we can talk about more than double growth compared to Q1 2021. If this pace is maintained, then at the closing stage of Q3 we will be able to look at the previous record from the perspective of the rear view mirror," said PFR Ventures CEO Maciej Ćwikiewicz, quoted in the release. PFR Ventures is a fund-of-funds manager, which, together with private investors, business angels and corporations, will invest over PLN 4 billion in venture capital funds. Their goal will be to propel Polish innovative enterprises at early stages of development with this capital. The PLN 2.7 billion available to PFR Ventures comes from the Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014-2020. Source
