Pesa lands next contract in Sofia: 25 Swing trams

Pesa has signed a contract to supply 25 more Swing trams to a Sofia-based carrier, the manufacturer said. This is the fourth contract of the Bydgoszcz-based company for the Bulgarian capital.

“In line with our strategy, we are consistently strengthening our position on the Central and Eastern European tram market. Cooperation with Stolichen Electrotransport has been going very well for years, so I am glad that Sofia has once again chosen our trams, ”said President Krzysztof Zdziarski.

The contract provides for the delivery of 25 trams with technical parameters similar to the vehicles previously delivered to Sofia. These will be low-floor, five-segment Swings with a length of 30m, with 41 seats and 160 standing places. The trams will be air-conditioned, adapted to the transport of disabled and visually impaired people.

The tender was settled in July 2020, but the subsequent appeals of Pesa’s competitors led to the extension of the proceedings. The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs engaged in dialogue with the Bulgarian side. Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński and the Polish Embassy in Sofia reminds Pesa.
