Pesa has a contract for 16 hybrid locomotives for PKP Intercity for PLN 554.6 million

PKP Intercity has concluded a contract with Pesa Bydgoszcz for the purchase of 16 new electric-diesel locomotives, along with the provision of maintenance services. The contract value is PLN 554.6 million, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced. Hybrid locomotives will be the first vehicles of this type in the carrier's fleet.
“The contract signed today for the purchase of 16 new hybrid locomotives is a big step in further strengthening our rolling stock park. These will be the first vehicles of this type in the PKP Intercity fleet and will significantly increase our operational capabilities. We are investing in various types of locomotives in order to make the best use of the possibilities of the railway network in Poland, ”said the president of PKP Intercity, Marek Chraniek, quoted in the release.

The contract signed by the carrier with the manufacturer from Bydgoszcz covers the delivery of vehicles with a maximum speed of 160 km / h in electric traction and with a speed of up to 120 km / h in diesel traction. In addition, the contract covers the provision of maintenance services for at least 60 months, as well as warranty repairs.

Under the contract, Pesa is to deliver the locomotives within 48 months of signing the contract, the first of which is to be delivered not later than within 30 months. PKP Intercity is planning to operate the first vehicle for 6 months in the first place. On this basis, it will be possible to introduce possible technical fixes and improvements before the next vehicle is available, it was also stated.

W bydgoskich i mińskich zakładach modernizowane są również składy ED74. Do tej pory spółka odebrała 8 z 14 pojazdów. Wartość całego zamówienia wynosi 275 mln zł, a ostatni zmodernizowany pojazd trafi do PKP Intercity w 2023 r. Pod koniec 2020 r. PKP Intercity odebrało ostatnie ze 125 wagonów, które dla przewoźnika zmodernizowała Pesa. Tym samym zrealizowana została warta blisko 470 mln zł umowa. Z nowoczesnych wagonów korzystają pasażerowie w całej Polsce. Podobnie jak z wielofunkcyjnych wagonów COMBO, wymieniono.

Kontrakt na 16 lokomotyw spalinowo-elektrycznych jest kolejnym elementem programu inwestycyjnego „PKP Intercity – Kolej Dużych Inwestycji”, w ramach którego do 2030 roku spółka przeznaczy 27 mld zł na nowoczesny tabor oraz przyjazne środowisku stacje postojowe.

PKP Intercity to największy w Polsce kolejowy przewoźnik dalekobieżny. W 2021 r. miał ok. 35,5 mln pasażerów, co oznaczało wzrost o blisko 9 mln r/r.
