Orlen bids for all wind farm construction concessions in Baltic Sea.

PKN Orlen plans to apply for all 11 new national concessions for the construction of wind farms in the Baltic Sea. And that’s not all. President Daniel Obajtek declares that he will fight for concessions also in the Baltic states. The turbines would be provided by the American giant General Electric. Orlen may need as much as PLN 40 billion for investments.

Obajtek indicates that he also wants concessions in the three Baltic states. The project to build a power plant with a capacity of 9-11 GW may cost from PLN 31-38 billion.

“We will want to obtain the remaining offshore concessions in the Baltic Sea in order to achieve economies of scale. We want to get as many of them as possible. We would like the process of allocating these concessions to be completed this year” – said CEO Danel Obajtek.

There are eleven new licenses with a total area of 2.5 thousand sq m. km, where wind farms with a capacity of 9-11 GW could be built.
