Nevomo has a contract with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana to develop magrail in Italy

Nevomo has partnered with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). As part of this, companies will technically and economically verify the feasibility of implementing magrail technology on Italian rail infrastructure, and will also apply for EU funding to prepare a full-scale pilot on the RFI test track in Bologna San Donato, the release said.

“The Polish technology company Nevomo has established cooperation with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, a company belonging to the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane group responsible for managing the Italian railway infrastructure. As part of the annual cooperation agreement (MoU), the companies will analyze the Italian rail network in terms of the technical and economic feasibility of implementing magrail on selected routes, as well as accelerating the technology to facilitate its integration into the conventional rail system, ”the release reads.

In parallel to these activities, the companies will jointly apply for funds from the European Union needed to finance the pilot implementation of magrail on the full-scale test track belonging to RFI in Bologna San Donato. This will be the final test phase and will precede the certification and approval processes necessary for the commercial implementation of the technology, it also added.

“The technology we are developing allows us to implement a sustainable solution by transforming an analogue transport system into an efficient and emission-free one. The initial magrail feasibility study, conducted in cooperation with our partner IDOM, shows that the benefits of implementing this technology would be significant – both economically and socially, ”said CEO and co-founder Nevomo Przemek Pączek, quoted in the release.

Nevomo recently announced the construction of the first 1: 1 test track in Nowa Sarzyna, Podkarpacie, which will begin this summer. Total funding raised by the company exceeded EUR 7.9 million, including nearly EUR 1.3 million in the latest equity crowdfunding campaign on the British platform Seedrs, which has so far attracted over 950 individual investors from over 45 countries.

The Nevomo company (formerly Hyper Poland) deals with the development of technology that will enable the rapid and phased implementation of transport systems inspired by the hyperloop concept using the existing corridors and railway regulations. By adapting the existing railway infrastructure, the company wants to enable vehicle travel at speeds of up to 550 km / h.
