Mercedes has announced a gigantic investment in Poland.


Mathias Geisen, head of the commercial vehicle division at the Mercedes-Benz Group, announced on Monday that the German giant will for the first time produce exclusively electric vans in Europe. He announced this decision at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Speaker of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek.

– This is a step towards emission-free mobility. Let us thank the Prime Minister and the entire Polish government for good, trust-based cooperation, said Geisen.

The German company will invest as much as EUR 1.3 billion in Poland. The factory in Jawor will employ over 2.5 thousand people. people. – The investment that Mercedes-Benz is announcing today is very important for Poland. These are new jobs. Today, unemployment in Poland is almost the lowest in Europe, but we are looking ahead a few years, said Mateusz Morawiecki during the conference.

According to the Ministry of Development and Technology, Mercedes-Benz will produce large vans (closed model – vans) based on the VAN.EA (Van Electric Architecture) architecture.


Poland is doing very well in the production of batteries for electric cars. In the third quarter of 2020, Polish exports to Germany grew mainly due to… components for the production of electric cars. The export of batteries increased the most: not only did they turn out to be its most important item, but also their value increased fivefold in the third quarter, year on year, to over PLN 2 billion.
