KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. said it wants to obtain half of its energy from renewable sources by 2030. I think we are able to do it faster – assessed President Marcin Chludziński. In addition, the company plans to sell Poles investment silver in bars.
As Chludziński explained, the company plans photovoltaic and wind investments. “We have a goal to obtain 50 percent of our energy by 2030 from such sources. I think we can do it faster, but we are also working on SMRs, or small nuclear reactors, to make such a kangaroo jump. Depending on how quickly they are possible, it can help us speed up, it can be such a handicap”, said Chludziński.
He added that the company is also working on “hydrogen topics, that is, using hydrogen as fuel instead of gas in blast furnaces, and applying for permits for offshore projects.”
