Kaufland Polska was to take over the right to the retail space used by E.Leclerc in Kielce. However, the company withdrew its application.
Kaufland Polska Markety was to take over some of the property from Wanship. It was a commercial facility in Pasaż Świętokrzyski in Kielce, where the E.Leclerc store is located. However, the takeover will not take place, and Kaufland has withdrawn from these plans.
As admitted by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, this could be unfavorable for customers using Kielce stores.
The concentration could lead to a restriction of competition in the local retail market of everyday consumer goods in hypermarkets, supermarkets and discounters. Negative effects for consumers could be, inter alia, restriction of the freedom to choose the commercial network in which they want to shop – explained Tomasz Chróstny, President of UOKiK.
