PGNiG buys Ukrainian gas extraction company Karpatgazvydobuvannya

Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo (PGNiG) has signed an agreement to purchase the majority of shares in the Ukrainian company Karpatgazvydobuvannya, which is the sole owner of the Byblivska concession located in Western Ukraine, near the Polish border.

According to PGNiG, the attractiveness of this area is demonstrated by the results of the analyzes of geophysical and geological data.

The Bybliv concession is located in the Lviv region, near the border with Poland. It has over 200 square kilometers and is a geological continuation of the Przemyśl field, which has been exploited for 60 years.

“If the results of the analyzes are confirmed and we find gas, production will start in 2023” – said Paweł Majewski, president of PGNiG.
