Enea is talking with banks about the possibility of financing the construction of gas-steam units with a capacity of 2.1-2.2 GW at Kozienice Power Plant, which will replace the 200 MW coal units planned to be shut down.
The company assumes that the construction of the first block will start in January 2025.
“We are talking with banks about financing options, but it is too early to say whether it will be the project finance formula or on the balance sheet,” said Vice President Rafał Mucha during the press conference.
“This is a conditional interview. We present it in such a way that we will no longer have any coal. We are left with heating, but we will present a plan to switch this sector to gas, ”President Paweł Szczeszek told reporters.
“NABE [to which the carbon assets will be separated] is to be built in Q2 or Q3 2022, and the start of construction is planned for January 1, 2025, so we have a time buffer to start financing,” he added.
Enea is considering two models in Kozienice: three blocks with installed capacity of 700 MW each or two blocks of 1100 MW each. A total of 2.1 GW or 2.2 GW.
