POLAND Volkswagen Poznań has appointed Eiffage Polska Budownictwo to build a hall to house a welding production line and some logistics facilities at its factory in Poznań’s Antoninek district, an investment first reported in January.
The factory should start producing the company’s most modern vehicles from 2020. The new hall is to be completed by the end of the year and part deliveries are to begin in March w019. By using the latest logistics systems, the centre should be able to reduce the number of truck deliveries. The building will have a usable area of 46,743.05 sqm and a further EUR 400 mln over the next few years is to be invested in the expansion of the plant.
Over the last two years Eiffage has completed a number of industrial developments, including for Unilever in Poznań and for Volkswagen in Września (also near Poznań). Work is also underway on the construction of a Mercedes-Benz engine factory in Jawor near Legnica.
