DXC Technology will upgrade BLIK’s central system for the Romanian and Slovakian markets

DXC Technology will support Polski Standard Płatności (PSP), the operator of the BLIK mobile payment system, in implementing its foreign expansion plan. DXC will modernize the BLIK central system to meet the needs of new markets and the requirements of local payment systems in Romania and Slovakia, the companies announced.

“We have popularized BLIK in Poland and we are convinced that such a good solution will easily meet the requirements of other large European banks, gathering millions of engaged users of this form of payment in e-commerce. We are glad that we have comprehensive support from such an experienced partner as DXC in implementing our plans,” said Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, president of PSP, quoted in the release.

DXC has been supporting PSP from the beginning in the design and development of the BLIK central system, software engineering and system integration tests. As part of the new project, DXC will adapt the existing application to the needs of local payment systems focused on servicing the rapidly growing e-commerce segment in Romania and Slovakia, including: handling transactions in Romanian Leu and Euro or connecting to SWIFT, was also provided.

As Mazurkiewicz emphasizes, PSP wants to make maximum use of the technological potential of the system in order to repeat the success of the solution also on other European markets.

DXC Technology, apart from implementing a new modernization project, also provides technological support services for the BLIK central system on a daily basis.

According to PSP data, in the third quarter of 2023, 455 million operations worth PLN 63 billion were recorded using BLIK.

BLIK is a common standard for mobile payments. Currently, virtually every customer of domestic payment institutions offering a mobile application has the opportunity to use BLIK in mobile banking applications. Polski Standard Płatności (PSP) is responsible for the development of the system. PSP is constantly developing BLIK capabilities to make the system as functional as possible for its users.
