Creotech has negotiated a contract with ESA for the development of a detector for almost 400,000. euro

Creotech Instruments has successfully completed negotiations with the European Space Agency (ESA) to determine the terms of the contract for the “Quantum Key Distribution High Rate Detector” project, the company announced. The aim of the project is to develop a single photon detector with high quantum efficiency. The project will be developed with the needs of the SAGA (Security And cryptoGrAphic mission) project in mind. The value of the contract is PLN 799.12 thousand. euros, of which 399.73 thousand. euro falls on Creotech.

The detector will be used in ground stations in quantum key distribution (QKD) and optical communication systems, in particular in communication with deep space missions.

“I am glad that our competences are noticed and appreciated. Another successful negotiation with ESA is behind us, this time regarding activities in the field of quantum technology. The talks included setting the terms of the contract for the QKD HRDP project, the aim of which is to create a special single photon detector. It will be used e.g. in communication with missions carried out into deep space, but above all it will be a component of the future quantum network for the distribution of encryption keys using satellites.(…)” said Grzegorz Brona, CEO of Creotech, quoted in the release.
