Cellivia will open the first oral cell bank in Poland in November

Cellivia will open in November in Poznań the first dental pulp tissue and cell bank in Poland, and as the first such bank in the world, it will enable the storage of gum tissue. The banked material can be used in regenerative medicine of periodontal diseases, Zuzanna Stern, president of ISBnews, informed. In the first year, the company wants to acquire 2 thousand. customers.

So far, the team has developed methods that allow for the effective extraction of precisely defined populations of cells from the oral cavity, which, due to their properties, are a valuable source of stem cells for the treatment of periodontal diseases. The company plans to develop a technology for the production of advanced therapy drugs that will enable regenerative and reconstructive treatments in the area of ​​the oral cavity.

"Cellivia is the first bank of tissues and cells from the pulp of permanent and deciduous teeth in Poland, and the first bank in the world where it will be possible to store gingival tissue for use in advanced therapies. It was established on the premises of the Center for Advanced Technologies of the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań. The cost of launching the project is approximately PLN 15 million and 4 years of research, ”said Stern in an interview with ISBnews.

The Poznań-based company Cellivia conducts research and development activities and projects related to the use of cells derived from the pulp of teeth and gums. Currently, Cellivia is conducting research on the biological properties of cells from the oral cavity area in terms of their high regenerative capacity. The result of the research will be the development of technology for the production of advanced therapy drugs that will enable regenerative and reconstructive treatments in the area of ​​the oral cavity. The results of the research will be implemented during the development of an advanced therapy medicinal product to reduce the development of periodontal disease and inflammation of the oral mucosa and tissue regeneration in patients. Cellivia is a member of the Polish Network of Biobanks and the Association of Biotechnological Companies BIOFORUM.
