Budimex has its first contract in Slovakia – a section of the D1 motorway for EUR 110.85 million

The Slovak road manager Národná diaľničná spoločnost' (NDS) and Budimex have signed a contract for the construction of the D1 Bratislava-Triblavina motorway with a length of 3.6 km, the company announced. The value of the offer is EUR 110.85 million net. This is Budimex's first investment contract in Slovakia and the fourth one executed on foreign markets (the other three are being executed by Budimex in Germany).

“The purpose of the construction is to reconstruct the motorway and other related facilities. This means a full extension of the D1 motorway, including the replacement of the road structure from Vajnor to the Triblavina junction and the construction of 19 bridges. The reconstruction of the D1 road is necessary to ensure communication with the D4 motorway.

“This is a very important contract for us – one of the key road investments in Slovakia, and at the same time a reference object for our future infrastructure activities in Slovakia. We have extensive experience in the construction of roads and motorway junctions in Poland - we will use them to successfully complete the construction of the junction for NDS" - said Artur Pielech, Member of the Management Board of Budimex, quoted in the release.

The first step will be the implementation of the project in order to obtain the necessary building permits, the next stage will be the transfer of traffic from the D1 motorway and the opening of the direction from D4 to D1 (Jarovce - Trnava) and the direction D1 to D4 (Trnava - Stupava). At the next milestone, the opposite direction from D1 to D4 will be connected. The total construction period was set at 1,100 days.

Budimex has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 1995. Its strategic investor is the Spanish company Ferrovial. In 2021, it had PLN 7.91 billion in consolidated revenue.
