Budget after June with surplus PLN 25 billion, Morawiecki boasts

After June, there is a surplus of PLN 25 billion in the state budget, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced on Monday. While the amount is impressive, the surplus itself is nothing extraordinary. During the year, the government managed to be in the black more than once. At the end of December 2021, the hole is planned to amount to PLN 82 billion.

“After June, that is after the first half of the year, we have a budget surplus exceeding PLN 25 billion” – Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki boasted on Monday.

While the current size may be impressive, the very surplus in the budget at the end of the month is nothing extraordinary. In previous years, it was possible to end each month in positive territory many times, and finally at the end of the year there was a hole in the coffers of the state. Sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller. In the meantime, however, we have heard about the “excellent condition of the state’s public finances” many times.
