Air Products does windfarm deal with Aussie fund

Green Investment Group Ltd (GIG) said it has signed a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with US industrial gases supplier Air Products for the output of a 22-MW wind farm in Poland.

The long-term deal is tied to the electricity from GIG’s Scieki wind farm located some 75 km (46.6 miles) west of Warsaw. The contract was signed to support Air Products local operations and its goal of cutting its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions intensity by one-third by 2030 from a 2015 baseline.

The VPPA signing was facilitated by Schneider Electric, which acted as a full-service buyer’s advisor and assisted Air Products during the project selection and negotiations.

GIG, part of Australia’s Macquarie Group Ltd acquired the Scieki wind farm in February from EnerCap Power Funds. The wind farm has been operational for more than eight years now.
