As part of the project with the National Center for Research and Development (NCBR), the company will carry out industrial research and development work to develop a technology for the production of graphene oxide (GO dispersion).
Advanced Graphene Products (AGP) has signed an agreement with the National Center for Research and Development (NCBR), under which it will receive over PLN 3.3 million in funding for the implementation of the latest research and development project “Production of nanofunctional dispersions based on carbon structures,” the company said. The full value of the project is approximately PLN 4.34 million.
Achieving standardized and scaled production of this form of graphene will help in its implementation in the composites and plastics (polymers) industries. The result of the project will be the achievement of the highest degree of technological readiness: TRL9, stated.
“The composite and plastics industry is increasingly looking for innovative materials that exceed those that are used today. Graphene in the form of GO dispersion may be an excellent response to the growing demand in this area. After conducting the first research and tests, we already know that our product will meet the expectations of manufacturers of this type of components. Importantly, to introduce our graphene into their production processes, they will not have to incur significant investment outlays in their infrastructure. We estimate that the result of the project will be the production of raw material amounting to no less than approx. 160 thousand. liters of graphene dispersion on an annual basis “- said the president of AGP Maciej Gałązka, quoted in the press release.
The project implementation began in May this year, and its completion is scheduled for November 2023 (32 months in total). The total budget of the project on the part of Advanced Graphene Products is nearly PLN 4.34 million, of which the amount of funding is over PLN 3.3 million. The remaining part of the own contribution will be financed by the company thanks to the funds from the recently successfully completed first public issue of shares, from which it raised PLN 7.4 million gross.
Advanced Graphene Products produces high-quality graphene flakes (GO, rGO), which is intended for applications such as carbon composites, epoxy resins, 3d filaments, paints, anti-corrosion coatings and polymers. It has signed letters of intent and contracts for the development of commercial applications of graphene with companies such as: Kross, GRM System, European Space Agency, Frako-Term, GM Color, or Pimar-Plastics. In addition, AGP has its own patented technology for the production of surface graphene from liquid metal – HSMG. The company plans to debut on the NewConnect market in Q3 2021.
