The Maritime Office in Gdynia has announced a tender for the construction of a fairway as part of the waterway under construction connecting the Vistula Lagoon with the Bay of Gdańsk. The track section covered by the current tender is approx. 8,200 m on the Vistula Lagoon, said the Office’s spokeswoman Magdalena Kierzkowska.
She added that a tender for the rest of the fairway will be announced in the first quarter of 2022.
“The subject of the current order includes dredging works, transport and dredging of excavated material with incorporation into a newly designed island in the Vistula Lagoon as well as purchase, delivery and setting of navigational markings” – Kierzkowska explained.
As part of the new navigation marking, 35 buoys have been designed, including 18 red buoys on the left side and 17 green buoys on the right side. The contractor will have 11 months to complete the task, but no later than February 28, 2023.
The planned date for opening offers is November 29. The fairway on the Vistula Lagoon was designed for a sea-going vessel 100 m long (a set of barges up to 180 m), 20 m wide and 4.5 m deep.
