PGE Energia Ciepła’s new boiler projects means complete withdrawal from coal

At the PGE Energia Ciepła heat and power plant in Gorzów, a peak load-reserve boiler house with a maximum capacity of 100 MWt will be built. This is another step that will allow coal to be completely withdrawn from use in the plant – said Agnieszka Dietrich from PGE Energia Ciepła.

The works are to last until November 2023. As stated in the announcement, the Gorzów branch of PGE Energia Ciepła is constantly investing in its generation units to meet the most restrictive environmental standards. In recent years, there was, among others, one of the most modern gas and steam units in Poland.

In turn, in April this year, a tender has started for the construction of a peak-load boiler plant with a capacity of up to 100 MWt, fueled by gas and oil in reserve. The construction of the boiler house is an important element of the investment program of the PGE Energia Ciepła CHP plant in Gorzów. This investment will allow the coal unit to be completely decommissioned by the end of 2023.

The tender will select a contractor who will design and build the entire facility in the “turnkey” formula. The contract is to be signed in December 2021. The works will last less than two years – until November 2023, when the facility will be put into operation.
