80 Polish companies are ready to participate in the construction of a nuclear power plant in Poland, and 250 may participate in some modification, says Bogdan Pilch, President of the Chamber of Commerce for Energy and Environmental Protection.
“We have about 700 companies in the base and about 300 would like to be involved in the nuclear project, but it takes time and cost effort and risk-taking by these companies. Everyone thinks that when there is a decision, then we will think. Unfortunately, you have to take these risks sooner. There are 80 companies completely ready to cooperate in the construction today, “said Pilch during the” Atom for Poland “conference.
The Polish Development Fund (PFR) confirmed that it aims to increase the value and share of Polish companies in the supply chain in the construction and operation of a nuclear power plant.
“The values of the local content share given by the providers (EDF, Westinghouse, KHNP), which oscillate between 40% and 70%, are optimistic, but our experiences are less optimistic. We do not have good and long experience in this respect in Poland. We look at what Polish companies have participated in similar projects in the past, which is in practice 7%. The declarations are one thing and the reality is another, ‘said PFR vice-president Bartłomiej Pawlak.
The vice president announced that PFR could give credence to those companies willing to take part in the nuclear project. Among the instruments, he mentioned: equity investments, subordinated loans and financial engineering. Currently, the maximum investment limit for one project from PFR ranges from PLN 30 million to PLN 1.5 billion.
