President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection Tomasz Chróstny initiated proceedings against Glovo for infringement of collective consumer interests and an investigation against Uber Eats, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection announced on Wednesday.
As the UOKiK explained in an announcement, the office received complaints from consumers about irregularities in ordering food and groceries using popular apps. Consumers pointed out that they paid for the order a higher price than the one they were informed about before placing the order. Complaints also included billing businesses for unfulfilled orders.
It was reported that the head of the UOKiK Tomasz Chróstny initiated proceedings for violation of collective consumer interests against Glovo and an investigation against the company Uber Eats. These are the names of mobile applications that are used to order food from stores with delivery to a specified address.
