TJX Europe, owner of the TK Maxx chain of stores, opens a second distribution center in Poland. Construction works began at the beginning of March 2021 in Sulechów, in the province of Lubuskie Voivodeship. The facility will be TJX Europe’s largest distribution center in Continental Europe, creating 1,000 jobs in the first year.
The building with an area of over 61,000 m2 will be erected on a plot of 23 ha in Sulechów. It will be the second, after Wrocław, TJX Europe distribution center in Poland and the sixth in Europe – next to Bergheim in Germany and Stoke, Wakefield and Walsall in Great Britain. Products processed in the newly built facility will be transported to over 200 TK Maxx stores located in Austria, the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. Panattoni – a European developer of warehouse space – is responsible for the construction of the distribution center. The opening of a new distribution center, which will employ over 1,000 people in the first year of operation, is planned for autumn / winter 2022/2023.
As part of the preparations for the opening of the distribution center in Sulechów, TJX Europe, in cooperation with Panattoni, is building a facility in Nowy Kisielin near Zielona Góra, where a 20,000 sqm temporary distribution center will be built this summer. The warehouse will allow for the development of human resources structures and operational processes, which will then be implemented in the newly created distribution center in Sulechów. In connection with the expansion of the facility in Nowy Kisielin, it is planned to create over 300 new jobs.
