Żabka introduces human-less stores

The first maintenance-free Żabka Nano located in a different outlet was opened in the Decathlon store in Piaseczno. The camera system and the algorithms connected to it will collect the amount due for purchases themselves.

“From June this year. We have already opened a dozen or so self-service Żabka Nano outlets in very different locations, including at the station, subway, city centers or the Poznań International Fair. We are currently debuting a new version of Żabka Nano in the store-in-the-store model. Thanks to a special modular structure, we can start the facility in a very short time, in Piaseczno it took about a day. The pilot is planned in the Decathlon chain, we are glad that together we can build new value for customers”- says Tomasz Blicharski, Vice President of the Management Board, Managing Director of Żabka Future.

It took slightly longer than the opening of Żabka itself, because Decathlon customers could observe the creation of the new store at the beginning of December.

Żabka Nano uses an innovative method of authorization and payment for purchases, implemented in cooperation with Adyen. Access to the facility is possible with the use of a payment card – the customer places it against the terminal before entering Żabka Nano. During the first visit, he gives the phone number to which he will receive an SMS with the confirmation of purchases. After doing this, the door will open automatically.
